My high school friend, Eunice, calls me one random night and asks if I want to go to Antelope Canyon. Within 24 hrs, we booked flights, hotels, and put a 3-day itinerary together. For those of you who've seen these incredible images of Antelope Canyon's earth porn and have been meaning to make a trip out, let me assure you that it is possible to do a 2-day trip there. See our itinerary below!
Getting to Page, Arizona was incredibly easy. It was about a 4hr drive from Vegas and since it was too dark to stopover and see anything, we did a straight shot trip with one pitstop. We stayed at a Comfort Inn (near a Sonics!!) and it was a quick 10 min drive to reach the canyon. We booked the lower Antelope Canyon photography tour ($47/person) through Ken's Tours. Because we were part of the photography tour, we were given more time to take photos, our guide waited for people to move out of our shots, and our group was incredibly small – 3 people total. I think we got lucky, because the other photography tours that walked past us had at least 5 people with big ass cameras. The other option was a $25/person one hour tour, perfect for a stopover.
Antelope Canyon
These light streaks are every nature photographer's dream to capture in the canyon. To be able to see these, you need to book a time slot when the sun is above the canyon. This light streak peeked through for a mere 10 minutes.
To see the light streaks better, our guide would toss sand through the canyon so that the contrast is more defined. You can see how the light streaks are more defined when the sand reflects the sun.
One way in, one way out.
